FAQ’s.

  • What is Somatic Counselling?

Somatic counselling is a body-based approach to healing that helps you process emotions, trauma, and relational challenges by working with both the mind and the body. It goes beyond just talking—it explores the physical sensations, nervous system responses, and patterns of tension stored in the body. By tuning into these signals, we can access deeper healing and shift patterns that may feel stuck.

What can I expect during a somatic counselling session?

During a session, you will have the space to explore your thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations in a safe and supportive environment. I will guide you in noticing physical responses, breath patterns, and postural shifts that may be connected to your experiences. We will gently work through stored trauma, emotional blocks, and relational patterns. The process is about building body awareness, emotional resilience, and nervous system regulation to support lasting change.

How long does somatic counselling last?

The length of therapy depends on your individual needs and goals. Some people may experience significant shifts in a short-term process, while others may prefer longer-term support to unravel deep-seated patterns and relational wounds. Somatic counselling is not about rushing—it’s about working at the pace that feels right for your body, emotions, and nervous system.

Is somatic counselling right for me?

Somatic counselling is for anyone who wants to heal beyond the mind and engage the wisdom of the body. It can be particularly helpful if you:

    • Feel stuck in patterns of stress, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm

    • Have unresolved trauma or find traditional talk therapy isn’t fully addressing your needs

    • Experience relationship struggles, attachment wounds, or difficulties with intimacy

    • Want to develop greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and nervous system balance

    What is Couples Somatic Counselling?

Instead of just talking through issues, we explore how relationship dynamics show up in body language, nervous system states, and emotional triggers. By bringing awareness to these patterns, couples can break free from old cycles and create deeper, more connected relationships.

When should a couple consider somatic therapy?

Couples may benefit from somatic therapy if they are experiencing:

    • Communication breakdowns that feel repetitive and unresolved

    • Intimacy challenges or difficulty feeling emotionally connected

    • Attachment wounds or past relational trauma impacting the present relationship

    • Nervous system dysregulation, where one or both partners feel reactive, withdrawn, or overwhelmed

    • Trust issues, infidelity, or major life transitions affecting the relationship

What can we expect during a couples somatic counselling session?

In a session, I will facilitate deeper attunement between you and your partner, helping you become aware of unconscious patterns, body cues, and nervous system triggers that affect your connection. We will practice mindful communication, embodied listening, and relational repair techniques to restore safety, trust, and intimacy. By working with both the body and emotions, couples can move from reactivity to deeper connection and understanding.

  • What is YIN/YANG Integrative Bodywork?

These sessions work with both the mind and body, using a top-down and bottom-up approach to help integrate life traumas into personal potential, self-awareness, and emotional balance.

This is not just about relaxation—it’s about increasing your capacity to hold tension, trauma, and your full aliveness, allowing your physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual bodies to co-exist in harmony.

What can I expect during a session?

Each session is unique and guided by what your body needs in the moment. We pendulate between states of receptivity and activation, gently exploring where your system holds tension or trauma, and creating space for release, integration, and deeper awareness.

With intentional touch and deep listening, I work with the nervous system to encourage relaxation, emotional processing, and embodied healing. Some moments may feel still and restorative, while others may bring gentle movement, sensation, or emotional release.

How is this different from regular massage or bodywork?

Unlike traditional massage, which focuses on muscle relaxation, YIN/YANG Integrative Bodywork works with the entire system—body, mind, emotions, and spirit. This is about more than just relieving physical tension; it’s about tuning into the nervous system, stored emotions, and deep-seated patterns that influence how you feel and move through life.

This approach supports long-term regulation and emotional healing, rather than just short-term relief.

    Who is this for?

This work is open to anyone looking to reconnect with their body, process life experiences, and cultivate a deeper sense of wholeness and well-being. I welcome:

    • Men & women seeking emotional, physical, or energetic balance

    • Pregnant women looking for deep support during this transformational time

    • Anyone processing trauma, life transitions, or stress and wanting a body-based approach to healing

    • People who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from their emotions or physical body

How do I know if this is right for me?

If you’ve been feeling stuck, dysregulated, or disconnected from your body, or if traditional or conventional talk-based approaches haven’t quite helped you reach the deeper layers of healing, this work might be what you’ve been looking for.

If you’re curious about what your body is holding, and want to explore a gentle, yet powerful, way to release, integrate, and expand into more joy and aliveness, then this is for you.

  • Internal Pelvic Attunement Therapy – Q&A

What is Internal Pelvic Attunement Therapy?

Internal Pelvic Attunement Therapy is a deeply respectful, client-led exploration of the pelvic space, integrating somatic counselling, bodywork, and energetic awareness to support healing, pleasure, and connection. This work helps to ease pain, release stored trauma, reawaken sensation, and restore trust in the body. It’s not just about physical touch—it’s about tuning into the deep intelligence of your pelvic bowl and working with your body’s natural rhythms for integration and healing.

Is Internal Pelvic Attunement Therapy sexual?

No, this is not a sexual service. This work is about deep healing, attunement, and restoring balance to the pelvic space. While pleasure and sensation may naturally reawaken as a result of the session, the focus is always on supporting your body’s healing and reconnection in a way that feels safe and empowering for you.

Who can benefit from this work?

This therapy is for women at all stages of life who are seeking to reconnect with their body, release tension, and reclaim their personal power. It may be supportive if you:

    • Experience chronic pelvic pain, tightness, or numbness

    • Are healing from birth trauma, miscarriage, abortion, or loss

    • Feel disconnected from your body, sensuality, or pleasure

    • Have experienced sexual trauma or relational wounding

    • Are preparing for pregnancy, birth, or postpartum recovery

    • Want to release stored emotional experiences and navigate life transitions with more ease

Many women come to this work after trying everything else, while others simply feel an unexplainable "yes" in their body when they hear about it—and that alone is enough.

    What happens in a session?

Each session is a gentle and client-led experience that blends somatic dialogue, breathwork, bodywork, and internal touch to support deep attunement.

    • We start with a pre-session attunement call, where we discuss your history, intentions, and any concerns you may have.

    • In the 3-hour in-person session, we incorporate somatic counselling, hands-on bodywork, and internal attunement to support nervous system regulation and pelvic healing.

    • A follow-up call is included to integrate your experience, offering additional support after the session.

The approach is slow, safe, and deeply intuitive—always guided by your body’s readiness and comfort.

What is the science behind Internal Pelvic Attunement?

This modality is rooted in both somatic healing and physiological science, working on multiple levels:

    • Nervous system regulation – Engaging the vagus nerve and deep pelvic receptors to shift the body from stress to relaxation.

    • Hormonal balance – Stimulating the release of oxytocin, endorphins, and nitric oxide to promote relaxation, trust, and pelvic health.

    • Musculoskeletal release – Supporting the fascia, ligaments, and deep pelvic muscles to ease pain and improve mobility.

    • Emotional processing and embodied memory – The pelvic bowl stores lived experiences, and attuned touch can help release tension, restore sensation, and integrate past emotions.

This is far beyond genital mapping or yoni massage—it’s a science-backed, somatic healing modality that works across neurological, muscular, hormonal, and emotional levels.

    Where do sessions take place?

Sessions are held at The Mookaburra Nest in Frederickton, NSW, with occasional visits to regional and remote areas around Australia.

Can my partner attend the session?

In some cases, partners are welcome to attend to learn ways to support their loved one. These appointments are available by application only.

  • Healing can be approached through five interconnected pathways, each offering unique methods for integration and well-being.

The cognitive approach involves understanding and processing thoughts to make sense of experiences.

The sensory approach engages the body and emotions, allowing healing through physical sensations and feelings.

The intuitive approach taps into inner wisdom, spiritual insights, and intuition, guiding healing from within.

The natural approach connects us with nature and the elements, helping us find grounding and orientation.

The relational approach focuses on our connections with others and ourselves, fostering healing through relationships and interactions.

  • Everyone has such a unique presentation and set of circumstances that its important that there are multiple approaches available for clients to heal complex or relational trauma.

The timing, their capacity to self regulate or self resource, their preferences all come into play when deciding what approach might be best for them.

Sometimes their nervous system requires upregulating and activation and other times its better supported into a receptive and downregulated state.

Lets look at the use of pendulation and titration for example and how effective they can be when combined.

When used together, pendulation and titration create a balanced and effective method for trauma healing.

Pendulation ensures that you don’t stay in a state of distress for too long, while titration allows you to process trauma at a pace that feels safe and sustainable.

This combination helps to build a sense of safety and control, which is crucial for healing complex trauma.
